The premiere edition of the ITF Wheelchair Tennis Croatia Open Umag by HEP was won by the Israeli Guy Sasson, currently ranked 36th in the world. He started the competition as the first seed and eventually lived up to all the expectations. Still, it was a close final match as his opponent, second-seeded Austrian Joseph Riegler, was a tough nut to crack.
In the end, the 39-year-old Israeli, whose current ATP ranking is his career-best, won the match 7:5, 1:6, 7:5. Riegler, however, can also be pleased with his results here, as earlier today, he won the doubles final with his partner Dražen Mikšić.
