Over more than thirty years of the Plava Laguna Croatia Open Umag ATP tournament, many tennis players who have left a deep mark in professional tennis have played at Stella Maris, and this season will not be an exception.
“Apart from Andrey Rublev, currently the sixth ranked tennis player in the world, and the Italians Lorenzo Musetti, Matteo Arnaldi, and Lorenzo Sonego, players who can be called the future of world tennis have now confirmed their participation in the Umag tournament. These are the Croatian Dino Prižmić (199th in the ATP ranking), the Czech Jakub Menšik (74th), and the Italians Luciano Darderi (46th) and Flavio Cobolli (56th). This year's tournament will take place from 19 to 27 July. It will be its 34th edition, and even now, two months before its start, we can see that it will have an extremely strong line-up,” said Tournament Director Tomislav Poljak.
Jakub Menšik and Dino Prižmić, currently the two highest-ranked ATP players under the age of 19 who will play in Umag, are candidates for the Next Gen tournament, which has been gathering the most successful young players under the age of 20 at the end of the season for several years now. Some of the today’s top tennis players in the world, such as the Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, the Italian Jannik Sinner or the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas won their titles at that tournament.
This list of tournament participants attests to the already well-known fact that Plava Laguna Croatia Open Umag creates winners and that this season at Stella Maris, the spectators will once again have the opportunity to witness the talent of the players who will be at the top of the ATP ranking in the next ten years.
And the good news does not stop there! This year, Plava Laguna Croatia Open Umag will feature premium official Subaru vehicles, for which the contract was signed at the opening of the Unikomerc Automobili dealership in Velika Gorica on Wednesday, 22 May.
