The official part of the 26th Konzum Croatia Open has begun in Umag with the main tournament draw. The very first round promises a lot of excitement: Borna Ćorić will face Marcel Granollers from Spain who was a finalist in Umag in 2012 and is currently ranked 71 in the world.
Among the first round matches that will be viewed with increased interest is the duel between Fabio Fognini from Italy and Jiri Vesely from the Czech Republic, along with the match between the best tennis player from Bosina and Herzegovina, Damir Džumhur and Lukaš Rosol from the Czech Republic.
In the quarterfinals we could have a chance to see a duel between the best Italian tennis players Fognini and Adreas Seppi, if Seppi gets past the winner of the match between the Croatian tennis player Toni Adroić, who was given an invitation to the tournament and Joao Sousa from Portugal. The second Croatian tennis player with an invitation is Mate Delić who will look for a pass into the second round against Aljaž Bedene, who plays for Great Britain.
According to ATP tournament supervisor Jerry Armstrong, the main draw has confirmed that this is one of the most competitive tournaments in Umag in the past 25 years.
