Traditional Istrian flavours with a modern twist and as many as six catering food trucks
In addition to a superior selection of wines, the Taste Istria Zone will also present urban food trucks that give a modern twist to traditional Istrian flavours and offer a delight of irresistible culinary combinations. Thanks to its creativity, the Istrian food truck Poluotok always attracts great attention, and last year visitors especially enjoyed its beef burger, Veli Jože, with ingredients that include, in addition to beef, onion jam, creamy tartufata, bacon, cheddar and lamb’s lettuce, as well as its Salvore burger with shrimp, lard, dried tomatoes, burrata, pistachio and lamb’s lettuce.
Fantastic combinations of flavours may also be enjoyed at the Munchy truck, where people queued last year for a perfect Mediterranean katsu with shrimp, and chicken and vegan katsu. This year the guests will again enjoy a rich offering, including vegan burgers, bubble waffle and Mediterranean frap (deep fried wrap) with chicken, prosciutto, and other combinations. The Manjada by Palagius food truck will offer perfect pizzas, prepared according to the recipes of Istrian nonas (grannies), and their timeless classic “Pizza della Nonna” will undoubtedly remind you of the flavours from your childhood. Grill lovers will mostly enjoy the specialties from Fredi's Grill.
This year’s event will be joined by yet another three very popular food trucks. Street Food by Lukas will offer visitors in Umag its burgers, tortillas and piadinas. Its Istrian burger, which is a combination of a perfectly cooked 100% beef, mozzarella, Istrian bacon with irresistible truffle sauce and fresh arugula in a soft brioche, is simply a must. Ema, a truck with craft ice cream, will make sure that nobody will be left without their daily dose of sweet and refreshing ice cream. In addition to standard milk variants, Ema offers vegan and gluten-free variants with one hundred percent fruit content. The third novelty will be a well-known truck Ferdinand, whose sweet dumplings with various fillings, ranging from plums and apricots to passion fruit and wild blackberries, will be long remembered by many gourmets with a sweet tooth.
